Vision: The aim of the JEDI committee within the PRFWCC is to improve awareness and understanding of intersectionality, diversity, equity, and inclusion to fieldwork educators and capstone mentors to promote a more collaborative and inclusive learning environment for our students. We hope to decrease barriers related to/caused by inequalities and social injustice within fieldwork and capstone education.
Objectives:
Fieldwork educators and capstone mentors will gain knowledge and skills to engage with occupational therapy students in a collaborative manner and through an inclusive lens.
Educate fieldwork educators and capstone mentors on underpinnings of JEDI.
Equip fieldwork educators/ capstone mentors with the tools needed to create a safe and inclusive environment for students to learn and develop clinical skills.
Design a supportive framework through which educators/mentors are empowered to engage and educate our students using an intersectional lens.
Provide ongoing educational opportunities to support this vision in FW education and capstone.
